This comes after the suspect, Eliza Mahloko, appeared at the Specialised Commercial Crimes court in Bloemfontein. Hawks spokesperson, Christopher Singo, says Mahloko and two other suspects who are still on the run, allegedly formed a company and operated it as an estate agency. All three suspects had no license to operate in this industry.

Singo says based on the information that was found, the suspects were allegedly selling houses, requesting buyers to make payments into the company bank accounts and did not to transfer the ownership of the houses to the buyers.

Mahloko was arrested on 20 December 2020 by the Hawks' serious corruption investigation team. Singo says the other two other suspects are still at large.
