Water: A Petrusburg community pandemic

Water: A Petrusburg community pandemic | News Article

The Petrusburg community in the Free State, overseen by the Letsemeng local municipality, has experienced extreme water restrictions that have disabled many of the community members' daily lives.

Letsemeng local municipality spokesperson, Jimmy Mohgwetsi, says that the water restrictions are implemented as a result of general ongoing water shortages which lead to a 10:00 to 16:00 water cut for the whole community.

Furthermore, he emphasises that to counter the extreme water cuts, the municipality has implemented a functioning JOJO tank system for the residents of Petrusburg.

An anonymous source informed OFM News about the situation faced by the community in Petrusburg, saying that maintaining hygiene, the ability to do laundry or simply to keep clean are rapidly becoming almost impossible tasks.

Additionally, the source adds that because of this situation ensuring the community's safety is a daunting task most especially during an unwavering COVID19.

Mokgwetsi states that residents do not incur any costs by making use of the JOJO tank system and that this system will be implemented throughout the 2020 festive season.
