The Emfuleni local municipality in the Vaal has closed all public facilities, to curb the rapid spread of the second wave of Covid 19. The municipality has confirmed to OFM News that facilities that have closed include stadiums and sports centres, community parks, public swimming pools and community halls. The public amenities were closed from Tuesday, until further notice.

Following this closure and the new national curfew of between 23:00 until 04:00 introduced by President Cyril Ramaphosa, some Vaal residents shared their sentiments, saying the curfew and closure is important to save lives, however the decision has disrupted their plans to celebrate the end of 2020.

Law enforcement is visible on Vaal streets, monitoring compliance and the wearing of facial masks.
