The 30-year-old Mduduzi Mdluli, appeared in the Harrismith Magistrate court on a charge of culpable homicide on Wednesday, and his case was postponed to 30 December 2020 for bail application.

This follows after Mdluli’s truck collided with a Greyhound bus, killing the 54-year-old bus driver and leaving at least 49 passengers injured on in the early hours of Tuesday morning. 

He was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday, not long after the accident. The provincial police spokesperson, Motantshi Makhele, explained it appears the truck driver was making a U-turn in the road when the bus collided with the trailer of that truck.
