Diamonds land NW duo in court─── LUCKY NKUYANE 06:55 Fri, 08 Jan 2021
Two men will make their first court appearance at the Bloemhof District Court on Friday, on charges of illegal dealing and possession of unpolished diamonds.
The two suspects were nabbed by the Hawks in Christiana near Bloemhof in North West during a sting operation. Their arrest is the second made by the Hawks in the space of three months at Christiana, close to Kimberley in the Northern Cape.
The two were arrested on Wednesday while in possession of unpolished diamonds worth approximately R50 000. The diamonds were confiscated by the Hawks for further investigation.
In November 2020, the Hawks arrested a 25-year-old man during a similar operation for being in possession of an alleged uncut diamond in Christiana.
