The deputy security manager, Doctor Victor Tsie, passed on at the beginning of January 2021 after losing his battle to the virus which has once again gripped the country. He was buried at the Heroes Acre at the Mmabatho Cemetery on Friday. Only approved delegations from the affected unit were allowed to represent the institution at the funeral. In the light of Covid-19 social gathering restrictions, no memorial service was held. The provincial legislature's speaker Susan Dantjie and the management of the institution expressed sadness at the passing of Tsie.

Tsie is amongst the group of people who have died in the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. So far over 600 people have died because of Covid-19 related complications in the North West.
