NW ANC hails late former MEC─── LUCKY NKUYANE 06:37 Mon, 11 Jan 2021
Former MEC for public works in North West, Mmule Maluleka, who passed away on Friday, has been described as a disciplined and committed member of the ANC.
This as the ruling party pays tribute to Maluleka, who passed away at Lefatlheng village in Mathibestad in the Bojanala District after a long illness.
The ANC's Inter-Provincial Committee (IPC) Coordinator, Hlomani Chauke, in a statement says the ANC has lost a humble soul, soft-spoken, yet firm leader as well as a disciplinarian of note.
Chauke says Maluleka also had an unwavering commitment to the programme of unity, rebuilding and renewal of the party.
Maluleka was also a convener for the ANC's Interim Regional Committee in the Bojanala region and at the same time, she was the Media Liaison Officer (MLO) in the office of the Speaker of the North West Provincial Legislature Sussana Dantjie.
"Maluleka passed away on the day the ANC celebrated its 109th anniversary, following a short illness. Mmule was a long-serving member and a leader of the ANC (and) her activism spans almost three decades, having joined the ANC in 1993," Chauke adds.
She has served in many capacities including as ANC Ward 12 Branch Secretary in the Moretele sub-region and Regional Chairperson of the ANC Women's League(ANCWL) in the Bojanala region. She has also served as Member of Parliament deployed in the National Assembly.
In her memory and honour, we will intensify our efforts to replicate her work in the fight against Covid-19, a pandemic which continues to destroy livelihoods and claim many precious lives. We urge our people to remain extra-cautious by wearing their masks in public, maintain physical and social distance and by washing their hands or sanitizing," Chauke further adds.
The party has also conveyed its condolences to the family, relatives and friends of Maluleka.
