Mooinooi murders condemned─── 16:48 Mon, 25 Jan 2021
North West Provincial Police Commissioner, Sello Kwena, has condemned the alleged killing of four men over the weekend in Mooinooi.
Upon their arrival after being alerted to the scene, police found the body of Molapi Phiri (31) with multiple stab wounds.
According to reports, Phiri was allegedly overpowered by unknown suspects outside his house and stabbed to death.
A murder case was opened for investigation - no arrest has been effected. In a separate incident, police were summoned to a second scene and found three unidentified men’s lifeless bodies with multiple stab and burn wounds outside a burning shack. No-one has been arrested.
The motive of the incidents is yet to be determined. Prior to these murders, three house robberies were allegedly committed between Friday and Saturday in the area.
Investigations into all these cases continue.
Kwena urged members of the community to come forward with information that can assist the police to solve these crimes - which were seemingly sparked by house robberies.
He also urged the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands but to report all criminal acts to the police.
Anyone with information regarding the incidents is requested to contact Sergeant Brenda Metsileng at 078-821-3366 or call the South African Police Service (SAPS) Crime Stop number: 08600 10111. Alternatively, anonymous tip-offs can be communicated via the My SAPS App.
