FS police search for family of three─── 11:27 Wed, 27 Jan 2021
The police are seeking assistance from the public to help locate a missing couple and their son from Odendaalsrus in the Free State.
According to police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, the 55-year-old Victor Bosman, his 27-year-old girlfriend Charlene Lombard, and their 5-year-old son Jay Lombard were last heard from on Friday 22 January 2021.
The family of three allegedly left Odendaalsrus and hitch-hiked to Secunda, in Mpumalanga, for a possible job opportunity for Bosman, says Makhele.
A friend of Bosman, Kobus Klassen, who the family stayed with during their time in Secunda, says on the day they were last seen or heard from, he took them to a taxi rank for them to return back to Odendaalsrus.
In an interview with OFM, Klassen says they left with the taxi to return to Lombard’s sister when Bosman phoned him from Alberton, in Gauteng. “He asked me if I could borrow him R200 to buy food for their kid, I paid it over into his account and that is the last I heard from him. That’s what I know,” Klassen concludes.
The sister of Charlene Lombard, Chantalle Lombard, says they have not heard from the family and cannot reach them on their cell phones.
Makhele adds that missing persons' files have been opened at Odendaalsrus SAPS for further investigation. The police appeal to anyone with information to contact Detective Warrant Officer Maria de Wet at 073-200-2739 with any information regarding the family's whereabouts.
