The municipal spokesperson, Kamogelo Semamai, said the municipality has learnt with shock of the continuous collapse or falling of graves at the new cemetery in Kathu. He said damages to the graves was exacerbated by the flooding caused by heavy rain in the area. 

He said the area has been experiencing heavy rain since the beginning of 2021. Semamai apologised to families for the incident and said this is a painful reminder of the loss of beloved family members.

“Working together, as a stakeholder we can improve on services we render as the municipality. May their souls continue to rest in peace,” he added.
