The North West embattled Premier Job Mokgoro has appealed to the media to refrain from asking him about the ANC’s Interim Provincial Committee's (IPC) decision to suspend him and four other ANC Members of the Provincial Legislature (MPLs).

Briefing the media on Monday morning on the province’s Covid-19 vaccine rollout plan, Mokgoro appealed to journalists to rather focus on the rollout of vaccine programmes to the four million people in North West. His request came amidst growing concerns over his position after he made national news this past weekend for allegedly defying the ANC in the election of the chair of chairs in the Provincial Legislature. Mokgoro and four other MPLs have allegedly defied the ANC’s directive and voted with the opposition against their preferred candidate during Friday’s sitting.

Addressing the media where it was confirmed that there are plans in place and the province is ready to roll out the vaccines, Mokgoro said he has already responded to questions over his suspension and would not take any further questions.

He reiterated that his focus remains on service delivery and ensuring that North West communities are prioritised.

Mokgoro has meanwhile announced that they have prepared 21 vaccination sites and that the distribution plan has been completed for phase 1, which will entail the vaccination to healthcare workers.
