Emily Nyefolo Molemohi has lashed out at the prison officials for not communicating the details of the death of her son to her. The 26-year-old Teboho Hosea who was allegedly stabbed multiple times with sharp objects. 

She says the officials failed to inform her about the stabbing incident and only called her hours later on that day Hosea succumbed to his injuries at the Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein. She claims she was only given 30 cents which were in her son’s prison account and from there she never had any communication with the prison officials. 

Molemohi says she wants to know why and for what her son was murdered. Police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, also indicated to OFM News that there has not been any new developments in the murder investigation opened at Bloemspruit.

"I don’t know why my son was stabbed and killed. I even buried my son without any communication from the officials this past weekend. They have not even asked me anything in relation to the matter. They called me around 7pm to notify me about the death of my son and from there they have not said anything to me or done anything, instead they only gave me that 30 cents. They asked me to sign it off but I refused,” Molemohi adds.

Makhele previously said the 26-year-old was first taken to a local medical facility for treatment but was later transferred to the Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein where he is said to have passed away.

The Department of Correctional Services’ (DCS) spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo said the department was probing the circumstances which led to the fatal stabbing of Hosea.

The deceased was allegedly attacked on Saturday 23 January 2021 at about 08:45. The victim passed on at about 15:00 at the hospital.
