Stock theft duo nabbed in NC─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 12:31 Thu, 04 Feb 2021
Two Northern Cape stock theft suspects are soon expected to appear before the Kuruman Magistrates’ Court. This, after they were arrested in possession of two carcasses - a sheep and a goat - on Wednesday.
Police spokesperson, Mosimaneotsile Letsapa, says the pair, aged 33 and 43, were arrested by the Kuruman Stock Theft Unit after members of a security company in Kuruman noticed a suspicious white double cab Toyota bakkie on the R31 road between Kuruman and Daniëlskuil and contacted the police. Letsapa says the duo then failed to explain where they got the carcasses from when questioned by the police. They were arrested.
Police Acting District Commander, Francis Hender, has meanwhile sent a stern warning against any criminal activities in the region and applauded the security company for their cooperation in assisting the police in fighting crime.
Hender has further appealed to members of the public to report any cases of criminality.
