Five gunmen who robbed a local testing station in Selosesha in Thaba Nchu in the Free State are at large following the robbery.
Department of Police, Roads and Transport (DPRT) spokesperson, Hillary Mophete, says the gun-wielding men robbed the station of R13 880 on Tuesday night.
The suspects allegedly accosted the security officers and forced them to lie on the floor in a guard room whilst they were tied up with their shoelaces. These suspects allegedly held a member of the public hostage while stealing the money from a cash hall.
Meanwhile, police spokesperson Motantsi Makhele says police in that area are on a manhunt for the suspects.
No-one was injured during the incident.
"The department is highly concerned about the robbery and the trauma the security people has been put through and has mobilised maximum resources to track down the perpetrators. The DPRT urges members of the public with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to call the Crime-Stop number on 10111 or to share the information with their nearest police station," Mophete further adds.
