Traffic officer dies after killing wife | News Article

The man responsible for killing his wife in Bloemfontein on Tuesday, died late Thursday afternoon at the Life Rosepark Hospital in Bloemfontein, Free State, after a failed suicide attempt earlier.

OFM News previously reported that he fired two shots in the chest of his late wife. Thereafter, he attempted to commit suicide by shooting himself in the head. Police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, says it is alleged that the couple had been arguing and that she decided to go to her parents’ home, with their two children, prior to the shooting.

He adds that the incident took place in Alibama Crescent, Pellissier, where the couple stayed.

At the time of the incident, the police officers found the man alive with his service pistol in his hand and a headshot wound. The man was then rushed to hospital, where he died on Thursday, says Makhele.

Makhele adds that the deceased man was an employee of the Provincial Traffic Department in the Xhariep District.

The two children have since been placed with family members, says Makhele.
