Emfuleni residents warned of possible floods─── 13:15 Thu, 11 Feb 2021
The Emfuleni local municipality is warning its residents and motorists of possible floods, and to remain vigilant as the Vaal Dam sluice gates are opened.
The warning comes as the Department of Water and Sanitation today opened four sluice gates, to release water from the Vaal Dam.
The Department says weather forecasts have necessitated the initiation of a flood control plan for the Vaal Dam As of yesterday, the Vaal Dam was 103.5 percent full.
The municipality says residents living close to the river banks, must be on alert, as they are expected to be the most affected.
