Police spokesperson, Adele Myburgh, tells OFM News that the woman was found lying in a field next to Extention 13, along Kagiso Street.

The 33-year-old Boitumelo Malepa was lying on her back and showed no signs of life. The patrolling police were called to the scene by residents. She was declared dead by the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) who attended to the call. 

It’s alleged that Malepa was raped and brutally killed on Saturday 6 February.

The town is riddled with gangster violence and has a high crime rate. It is also amongst towns in the Matlosana Local Municipality with a high rate of unemployment.

Meanwhile, irate residents marched to the local police station to demand justice for the murdered woman.

The police are investigating the matter and anyone with information are requested to phone warrant officer Herman Fourie on (018) 476 1115, Myburgh added.
