The Matlosana Local Municipality has closed offices in its main building for operations, as an alleged gang tried to force their way into the building on Tuesday.
These residents started picketing on the N12 before their attempts to get into the municipal building.
OFM News is in possession of a memorandum of demands they wanted to submit to the municipality, which includes their demand for the immediate resignation of the municipal manager, Roger Nkhumise, and a motion of no confidence in the speaker, Washington Ntozini, and mayor be carried out.
North West police spokesperson, Adele Myburgh, confirmed to OFM News that the incident took place, adding security personnel blocked the group and closed the offices.
Myburgh said no injuries were reported and no case was opened.
OFM News made attempts to get comments from the municipal spokesperson, Ntswaki Makhetha, to no avail.
