According to the Northern Cape Hawks spokesperson, Nomthandazo Mnisi, the traffic officer, who is employed by the Jan Kempdorp Traffic Department, along with the driving school instructor, allegedly demanded payments of R3500 to unlawfully award individuals their driver's licences. She adds that they are expected to appear in court on Friday.

A sting operation was conducted whereby the suspects accepted R3500. They were subsequently arrested.

Mnisi adds that the two men allegedly repeated operations of this nature. The two suspects, aged 45 and 59, were arrested at the Jan Kempdorp Testing Centre, says Mnisi.
