The arrested 39-year-old alleged drug dealer is expected to appear in the Sasolburg Magistrate's Court in the Free State on 23 March 2021.

His appearance will follow his arrest earlier on Friday, when he was taken into custody on charges of the possession of, and dealing with drugs, and being an illegal immigrant. Free State Police spokesperson, Christopher Singo, says the suspect was arrested in Sasolburg after a search warrant was obtained to search his premises.

“His arrest came after a joint operation led by the Hawks' Serious Organised Crime Investigation Unit in Sasolburg, assisted by K9 Sasolburg and Crime Prevention Sasolburg, aimed at disrupting the drug dealing activities in the area. Upon searching the suspect's premises, the police recovered Cat - 32 grams, crystal meth - 56,8 grams, nyaope - 26,8 grams, and crack cocaine rocks - 10.1 grams. The recovered drugs have an estimated street value of R19 930,” Singo says.

In another related incident, Free State police arrested a 29-year-old suspect in Khalanyoni near Harrismith on Friday, following information regarding drug dealings. According to police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, the suspect was arrested whilst selling drugs around the area. Makhele further adds that four pieces of rock, valued at R400, and 40 sachets of nyaope, valued at R2000, as well as cash, were found and seized. The suspect will appear before the Harrismith Magistrate's Court soon on the charge of the possession of drugs.
