According to the police, the suspect was arrested on Friday after he tried to flee from officers who were conducting an intelligence driven operation.

Spokesperson Thandi Mbambo in a statement says the suspect dropped a sports bag while trying to flee from the police, but was fortunately arrested.

Two boxes with SASSA Post Bank Cards were found in the bag.

She confirms preliminary investigations revealed that the cards are linked to a business robbery where four unknown suspects stole seven boxes containing 14 000 SASSA Post Bank Cards at a Post Office in Bainsvlei, and fled the scene with a white Toyota Avanza.

The 34-year-old will face charges of possession of stolen property.
