AG report to paint a picture of province's state of affairs─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 16:00 Mon, 29 Mar 2021
The Auditor-General (AG) will on Wednesday table the 2019/20 audit outcomes of national and provincial departments as well as their entities.
In the latest report, the late AG Kimi Makwetu indicated how irregular expenditure and a lack of accountability, coupled with tender processes' non-compliance, has been a major concern in the Free State, North West, and other provinces.
His successor, AG Tsakani Maluleke, earlier this month expressed similar concerns with how financial controls at national and provincial government are disregarded. Briefing the Standing Committee on the Auditor-General (SCOAG), Maluleke said she was concerned at how preventative controls and consequence management lacks in most government spheres.
OFM News has previously reported on how the Free State and the North West have been criticised heavily for not producing any clean audits.
The report, set to be tabled by the AG, will come just days after these provinces tabled their budgets for the 2021/22 financial year and vowed to address concerns that have previously been raised by the AG's office.
