The Social Development MEC in the North West, Boitumelo Moiloa is set to visit 12 destitute families who were evicted at the Bleskop farm near Ventersdorp, on Friday.

Media liaison officer, Thabo Mosito, tells OFM News that the 51 people are currently being accommodated at community hall in Tshing Township in extension 4 by the JB Marks Local municipality.  He goes on to say that the visitation will take place at the community hall where the families are being housed.

Moiloa wishes to relieve the families of their ongoing troublesome battle of displacement, says Mosito.

He said “We are still trying to get the details as the department. We are not clear whether they were staying there illegally or its caution of stay. They have been there over a period of years and they don’t want to leave. However, we are addressing the situation now as the department of Social development.”

Furthermore Mosito says that the Moiloa's visit will clarify the reasons for the eviction of these families.

Mosito said, “The MEC will talk to other stakeholders such as the municipalities and other government wings that deal with issues of land and land reform and evaluate the other interventions that can be explored to assist the families.”
