ANC NW refutes ‘purging’ claims─── LUCKY NKUYANE 15:10 Fri, 09 Apr 2021
The ANC Interim Provincial Committee (IPC) has described accusations by the ANC Women’s League (ANCWL) that party members are being purged - especially women in the organisation, as unfortunate.
This follows the removal of the speaker of the Rustenburg based Bojanala District Municipality by the ANC IPC. ANC IPC coordinator, Hlomani Chauke, says the accusation by the Women’s league in Bojanala is uncalled for.
He says councillors or ANC officials know that they are deployed by the party, and issues of deployment are dealt with internally. Chauke says it’s nonsensical that the ANCWL would accuse the party of purging women, whilst an official being deployed as the new speaker to replace Emmah Tanke is also a woman.
The ANC Women’s League Coordinator in the Bojanala Platinum District Municipality, Sophy Sentsho, accused the party of purging members – particularly women. Sentsho said they were shocked and disappointed to learn that Tanke was removed without any engagement nor a report.
