NW MEC's fraud trial to commence─── 07:45 Tue, 13 Apr 2021
The fraud case against former North West MEC Wendy Nelson and former HOD at the health department, Thabo Lekalakala, is set to commence on Tuesday at the North West High Court sitting in Mahikeng.
The case was postponed in February 2021, and OFM News learned that the former North West MEC for Health, Dr Magome Masike, was the first witness.
The National Prosecuting Authority's North West spokesperson, Henry Mamothame, confirmed to OFM News that the trial will commence on Tuesday and continue until Friday.
The pair are facing charges of fraud relating to Lekalakala's appointment to a senior government position.
Mamothame said the fraud is valued at R8 million, which Lekalakala allegedly received as remuneration.
