Parts of Qwaqwa without water─── 07:44 Fri, 16 Apr 2021
Residents of Tseseng village in Qwaqwa in the Free State have been without running water for at least two weeks.
This follows the leaking of a mainline water pipe that passes through the Ha-Sethunya village.
According to the executive mayor of the Maluti-A-Phofung Local Municipality, Masetjhaba Mosia-Lakaje, the municipal water entity, MAP Water, tried to pinpoint the problem and attend to it. He says the only problem was that there was a shack built on top of the mainline pipe.
The mayor adds that they initially approached the owner and asked him to remove it so that they could fix the mainline water problem for the benefit of the residents, but he refused.
However, he eventually agreed, and the MAP Water team is now working on how to secure running water to residents.
