FS artist protest in Botshabelo─── 09:20 Tue, 27 Apr 2021

A group of Free State artists are protesting at Botshabelo.
The leader of the artists, Mbuyiselo Nqothi, said that they were booked for a Freedom Day event, but their performances were cancelled at the last minute.
The artist say that they want to make a statement, and they should be paid a cancellation fee.
These artist further stated that the FS Premier promised them that at least three artist were going to perform at the event.
They were previously involved in a sit-in protest at the Performing Arts Centre of the Free State (Pacofs).
All eyes will be on Bothsabelo today as President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to deliver his annual Freedom Day address from this Free State town.
The theme of this year’s celebration is “The year of Charlotte Maxeke: The meaning of freedom under COVID-19”.
His visit to the province comes amidst continued service delivery protests rocking the province.
Residents in Welkom and Winburg blocked several roads in protest against a lack of water services.
The president’s visit will kick off with the official opening and a tour of the Charlotte Maxeke Treatment Centre. He is expected to be accompanied by Free State Premier Sisi Ntombela and members of her executive council.
