He thanked the protesters for not being violent, however, he was not impressed with the way in which the Free State government handled the issue of these artist - who earlier staged a sit-in at the Performing Arts Centre of the Free State (Pacofs).
Mbalula promised them that he would pass their message on to the president, and they will be back to address their grievances.
The leader of the artists, Mbuyiselo Nqothi, said that they were booked for a Freedom Day event, but their performances were cancelled at the last minute.
The artist say that they want to make a statement, and they should be paid a cancellation fee.
These artist further stated that the FS Premier promised them that at least three artist were going to perform at the event.
They were previously involved in a sit-in protest at the Performing Arts Centre of the Free State (Pacofs).
