Mangaung Metro deals with waste backlog─── 07:28 Sun, 09 May 2021
The Mangaung Metro Municipality earlier confirmed in a media statement that it will be dealing with a waste backlog over the weekend.
The municipality claims that the backlog is a result of disruption of services, after a violent protest at the municipal offices late last month.
It is expected that the solid waste teams would have been expanded and started working on the backlog over the course of the weekend.
According to the Metro's statement, waste teams are expected to be working in the northern and southern parts of Bloemfontein.
The Metro further apologised to residents that have been affected, and reiterated that it is not in the interest of any stakeholders to resolve issues through violence.
Any form of violence against metro employees who are expected to ensure service delivery was also condemned.
