Magashule supporters ready to take to the streets in his honour─── LUCKY NKUYANE 13:20 Sun, 16 May 2021
ANC branches, including the Congress of South African Students (COSAS) in the Fezile Dabi region in the Free State, are ready to take to the streets and defend the embattled ANC Secretary-General, Ace Magashule.
This follows after they met yesterday in Tumahole in Parys to discuss pertinent issues besieging the party, such as the controversial step-aside policy adopted by the ANC’s National Executive Committee (NEC). Leaders of the ANC are accusing the NEC of removing Magashule and wants the committee to rescind his suspension.
Meanwhile, the regional secretary of COSAS, Boitumelo Majoe, says Magashule is innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
“Previous statements that were made by comrade Bheki Cele, where he said a long time ago that by this time the SG won't be here, means it is a plot since Nasrec. But as the branches and regions of the COSAS in Fezile Dabi, we are saying that whatever has been taken by that bogus group within the NEC of the ANC, we are ready to go to the streets. We are ready to fight for our own SG because he is innocent until the court of law has proven him guilty,” he adds.
Magashule was asked to step aside from his position by the NEC following charges of corruption against him involving a R255 million asbestos tender in the Free State.
