Free State artist goes viral─── 17:34 Thu, 20 May 2021
Despite the Covid-19 pandemic negatively affecting many local artists, for one it is a different story.
Teboho Moruti from Botshabelo in the Free State received an overwhelming response from thousands of fans on social media for his gospel single 'Ntata Rona'.
Moruti says the song trended at a time which he least expected it. He added that he was booked as an MC at a large concert in Botshabelo when he decided to play the song, and the crowd responded positively.
The next morning, he woke up to a flood of text messages and calls informing him that his song was trending on the social media platform TikTok.
Moruti, who is an entertainer, MC, and professional salesperson, says although he does not have enough background in the business side of the music industry, he had to use the past two weeks to gather as much information as he could to get everything right before releasing the song digitally.
After trending for a week, he then decided to grab the opportunity and give the people what they wanted – the chance to download the song digitally.
Moruti now plans to dedicate the next 12 months to build his brand, market the rest of his album through live performances and roadshows.
He concluded by announcing that he plans to release his full album, Thapelo, on digital platforms on May 28.
