#MangaungShutdown: Teenager to be laid to rest─── 12:40 Fri, 21 May 2021

The 14-year-old Jevano Liam Siegel who passed away on Monday amid service delivery protests in Mangaung will be laid to rest next weekend.
Siegel, a learner at Heide Primary School in Heidedal, was killed during the height of the protests which brought Mangaung to a standstill for the better part of the week. The city came to a halt when protestors took to the streets in demand of better service delivery, a plan to address unemployment, and an end to corruption, amongst others.
The Grade 7 learner was allegedly shot by a 57-year-old security guard who was shooting the protesting group in an attempt to scare them away, but in the process allegedly shot and killed Siegel.
OFM News’ earlier reported that the Premier of the Free State, Sisi Ntombela, visited his family on Friday to express condolences. The provincial government has committed to assist with burial costs and preparations for the funeral services, which will be held on Saturday morning 29 May at 08:30 at the school he attended.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday 27 May 2021 at 12:00 at the Heide Primary School Hall.
