#MangaungShutdown: Organisers meet again─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 08:05 Sun, 23 May 2021
Organisers of service delivery protests that brought Mangaung to a standstill last week are set to meet on Sunday.
According to Danny Smith, who is one of the organisers, they will be meeting with communities this afternoon to chart a way forward.
Following a 6-page report they received after a meeting with the provincial government - led by Premier Sisi Ntombela and Cooperative Governance MEC Thembeni Nxangisa - they temporarily called off the protest whilst they peruse it.
Smith, in an interview with OFM News, confirms they will be meeting on Sunday with communities to discuss it further and decide whether their grievances have been addressed or not.
The leaders are demanding that the provincial government address the lack of service delivery, provide access to job opportunities, and manage the municipality soundly.
The 14-year-old Liam Siegel was shot and killed during the service delivery protests.
