The interim structure is set to be led by Mxolisi Dukwana who is popularly known as suspended ANC Secretary-General Ace Magashule's opponent and President Cyril Ramaphosa's close ally.

He has been appointed as the convener of the structure to see the province to an elective conference. Dukwana made national headlines when he appeared before the State Capture Commission of Inquiry where he gave evidence implicating Magashule in corrupt deals.

The interim structure will see Premier Sisi Ntombela serving as his deputy and Paseka Nompondo, who also served in the disbanded structure, as the coordinator.

Social media users have meanwhile taken to Facebook and Twitter to voice their opinions, with some welcoming the structure while others pose criticism at how Dukwana has allegedly worked hard to discredit Magashule and his allies at the Zondo Commission. Many allege he is now being rewarded with a deployment as Free State Convener ahead of municipal elections set to take place in October.
