The political instability in Free State municipal councils and the inability to provide adequate services is a key priority.

This is according to the newly appointed ANC Interim Provincial Committee (IPC). Briefing the media on Thursday, convener Mxolisi Dukwana said they are extremely concerned about the state of municipalities in the province and the escalating number of service delivery protests. He said they will be engaging councillors in the different municipalities regarding their role and iron out outstanding matters to address their divisions. Dukwana's statement comes just weeks after the province made national headlines over violent service delivery protests in Matjhabeng and Mangaung where a 14-year-old Liam Siegel was shot and killed in Heidedal during service delivery protests.

The structure led by Dukwana is set to see the province to an elective conference within nine months.

OFM News has reported that the structure was appointed last month after the disbandment of the PEC following ANC vs ANC court battles.

Whilst Dukwana has been appointed as the convener, Free State Premier Sisi Ntombela serves as his deputy and Paseka Nompondo as the coordinator. Polediso Motsoeneng has been appointed as deputy coordinator while Saki Mokoena will be serving as the provincial head of elections.
