North West MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional aAffairs - Mmoloki Cwaile - has called on residents of the Naledi Local municipality to be patient amidst water challenges.
This follows after community members were seen in long queues fetching water from water tankers over the week.
Cwaile indicated the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati district municipality, which includes Naledi, Kagiso Molopo and Greater Taung, has been placed under administration in terms of section 139 (1)(b).
This, following several challenges - including infighting among councillors.
Departmental spokesperson Dineo Thapelo said an intervention team will soon be sent to the municipality, along with a water service authority team, to ensure water supply is restored.
Cwaile said the situation in Naledi is unacceptable and residents deserve better.
