Tributes pour in for Moqhaka councillor─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 15:11 Tue, 08 Jun 2021
Tributes are pouring in for the family and friends of Moqhaka's municipal councillor, Boniswa Maphazi.
Maphazi passed away on Monday night following a short illness.
She became well-known in the province after she was appointed into the position of PR councillor, following the death of the former Executive Mayor, Lucky Phooko.
Phooko, who also succumbed to a short illness, was popular for intensifying service delivery programmes in the troubled municipality.
Following his death in September last year, Maphazi was soon appointed in council.
Moqhaka spokesperson, Dika Kheswa, says they have learned with great shock and sorrow about the passing of Maphazi.
He describes her as someone who was a selfless leader who prioritised the needs of others. Meanwhile, ANC members in the province and social media users are taking to Facebook and Twitter to express their condolences.
