Vaal residents' taps run dry | News Article

Most areas under the Emfuleni Local Municipality in the Vaal, Gauteng, have been without water since last week Thursday.

Areas at Vereeniging - including the Sebokeng and Evaton townships - have been experiencing water shortages since Thursday, due to power outages affecting the Vereeniging reservoir.

Meanwhile, the Vanderbijlpark reservoir is still empty since last week Thursday, after another water pipe supplying water to the reservoir has reportedly burst. This, after workers from Rand Water and Emfuleni Water Demand Team, took a week to reseal another pipeline that was supplying the reservoir.

The municipality tells OFM News that they have a limited number of water tankers available, and as a result, hospitals, clinics and old age homes will be prioritised, followed by communities.

No estimated time to normalise water supply was communicated.
