The body was discovered by a resident who then alerted the police.

North West police spokesperson, Sam Tselanyane, says divers and a rescue team were deployed to the scene on Friday.

Tselanyane tells OFM News that the woman was wearing a black and white sweater with brown jeans and white sneakers and that no wounds were visible on her body.

Residents in the area have expressed concern over the discovery and calls for the area to be fenced.

Tselanyane confirmed that an investigation into the matter has been launched and that a  post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
