The department has announced the Universitas Academic Hospital in Bloemfontein is open this Sunday for vaccinations until 15:30 in the afternoon. 

Health MEC Montseng Tsiu in a statement confirms they have the capacity to register the elderly on the online system on-site and vaccinate them immediately. 

The province has so far vaccinated 93 440 individuals. 

The province currently has a cumulative total of 106 820 Covid-19 positive cases with over 93 000 recoveries and 4 565 deaths.  

It aims to vaccinate about 1,9 million people over the age of 60 by end of July. 

Tsiu appeals to communities to adhere to non-pharmaceutical interventions to curb the spread of the virus. 

Meanwhile, in the North West, a total of 515 Covid-19 cases were identified in the last 24 hours, with the health department stating that a staggering 9 320 new cases have been recorded in the country. 

The majority of these new cases were registered in Gauteng, followed by the Western Cape and the North West. 

To date, 84 921 vaccines have been administered in the province. 

Health MEC Madoda Sambatha has also appealed to people over the age of 60 to come forward and get vaccinated.
