NW Health MEC intensifies vaccination registration programme─── 10:47 Mon, 14 Jun 2021
The North West Department of Health intensified its vaccination programme to ensure that 60-year-olds and above get registered and vaccinated, following the third Covid-19 wave that has hit the country.
The North West Health MEC, Madoda Sambatha, together with his team have intensified their door-to-door campaign that enables thousands of rural communities to access the Electronic Vaccination Data System’s (EVDS) self-registration portal, so that they have access to vaccines on 15 June 2021. “An outreach, which is meant to extend the accessibility to vaccines by mobilising people in a form of door-to-door campaign, loud hailing, and visiting places where more people converge, was very helpful in bringing more attention to the vaccination programmes. The outreach campaign managed to achieve the intended numbers of vaccinations in the chosen villages,” said Sambatha.
The door-to-door vaccine registration campaign is expected to continue this week in the North West province with a reported daily target of 200 or more 60-year-olds and above. On Monday 14 June 2021, Sambatha and his team are expected to visit the Tshepong Hospital, the NWU Vaal Triangle Campus, and Matlosana in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District. On Tuesday 15 June 2021, they are expected to be in the Moretele Bojanala District. On Wednesday 16 June 2021, they will be in Taung and Batlhaping Ba-Ga-Phuduhucwana in the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District, and on Thursday 17 June 2021 they will be in the Barolong Boo Ratshidi Hall, Mahikeng, in the Ngaka Modiri Molema District.
