North West hospitals in Klerksdorp have announced that movement restrictions will be eased.

This, after Health MEC, Madoda Sambatha, conducted an oversight visit to hospitals in the province yesterday.

The Klerksdorp/Tshepong Hospital Complex and West Vaal Hospital introduced movement restrictions a week ago to help stop the spread of Covid-19.

Hospital management has now indicated that 30-minute visits will be allowed twice a day.

The Klerksdorp/Tshepong Hospital Complex's spokesperson, Nico Masiu, says only one person will be allowed to visit a patient and screening will be conducted.

Sambatha says the restriction on movements was in the best interest of everyone and he is happy that it has yielded a positive impact.

Masiu told OFM News that the Klerksdorp/Tshepong Hospital Complex has increased Covid-19 wards to three, in order to cater for patients during the third wave.
