Premier vows to address FS municipal issues─── LUCKY NKUYANE 13:22 Wed, 16 Jun 2021
Free State premier, Sisi Ntombela, vows to address service delivery issues gripping municipalities in the province.
Her statement comes after residents in areas such as Winburg, Theunissen, Zastron, Harrismith and Bloemfontein, amongst other towns, embarked on protests against poor service delivery by municipalities.
Ntombela has further commended the national government for stepping in to support efforts to address the prevailing service delivery challenges across all municipalities in the province.
She said this during a stakeholder engagement attended by eight Deputy Ministers and MEC’s in Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality on Tuesday 15 June 2021.
“This integrated approach to governance by the different spheres of government has its fundamental roots in responsiveness, coherence, accountability, clean and ethical governance. Our people deserve that. Today's (Tuesday) engagement is commendable. And it comes at a time when Mangaung municipality and many other municipalities across the province are confronted with serious challenges of service delivery,” she adds.
