NW hit-and-run suspect back in court─── 06:49 Sun, 20 Jun 2021
A North West man will be appearing in the Ottosdal Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
This, after he was involved in a hit-and-run on Youth Day. According to police spokesperson Adele Myburgh, police are investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving, driving under the influence, as well as culpable homicide.
The 26-year-old suspect appeared before the same court on Thursday, and was denied bail.
He will remain in police custody until his next court appearance.
It is understood that the suspect had been driving recklessly in town, and when police attempted to pull him over, he allegedly sped off - after which a chase ensued.
It is then that he reportedly knocked over a female pedestrian.
Police managed to corner him near the old clinic.
The woman is said to have passed away in hospital on Thursday morning.
