Vaal mourners ignoring Covid-19 restrictions─── 07:30 Sun, 20 Jun 2021
The Emfuleni Local Municipality in the Vaal Triangle has expressed concern over the large numbers of mourners arriving at cemeteries for funerals.
This follows after President Cyril Ramaphosa moved the country to Covid-19 alert level 3, following an increase in the number of Covid-19 infections around the country.
Only 50 people are allowed to attend funerals, which does not seem to be the case in the Vaal.
The municipality says this will aid the spread of Covid-19.
Last week the Gauteng Covid-19 Command Council declared the Vaal as a Covid-19 epicentre in Gauteng.
The municipality is appealing to mourners and members of the public to comply with all Covid-19 protocols to prevent the further spread of the virus.
