NW premier, families to identify #ZamaZamas─── 05:49 Mon, 21 Jun 2021
North West premier Job Mokgoro will on Monday join Lesotho families in identifying bodies of alleged illegal miners - or zama-zamas - found last Tuesday outside Orkney near Klerksdorp.
The twenty bodies were found stashed next to Ariston Road, and it is believed the bodies are of zama-zamas operating in an obsolete shaft.
Mokgoro is expected to first meet with Lesotho Consul-General Selimo Thabane at the City of Matlosana Local Municipal chambers, then proceed to join the families at Orkney to identify the bodies.
North West police spokesperson Adéle Myburgh told OFM News that from the twelve bodies that had notes on them, the telephone numbers were Lesotho numbers.
OFM News earlier reported that police have opened a case of inquest and investigations continue.
