Mamabolo together with other officials from the provincial government, today visited taxi ranks in the Emfuleni local municipality, to monitor Covid-19 health and safety protocols in the taxi industry.

Mamabolo says today's visit was motivated by high levels of Covid-19 infection in the area.

This, after the Vaal was declared a Covid-19 epicentre in Gauteng by the Covid-19 Command Council recently.

Mamabolo adds they were checking whether people are wearing mask, and if commuters are being sanitized.

The MEC will also visit other areas including Sebokeng and the Vereeniging taxi rank.
