NC Health MEC commends health workers─── 10:36 Mon, 28 Jun 2021
The Northern Cape Health MEC, Maruping Lekwene, commended the hard work and dedication shown by their health management team in curbing Covid-19, despite the increase in cases.
Lekwene and the acting Head of the Department (HOD), Riaan Strydom, conducted a support visit to De Aar on Sunday to engage with the health management team of the Pixley Ka Seme District on updates of the Covid-19 epidemiology and vaccine roll-out. He noted that about 672 health workers were already vaccinated in phase1, and 2 718 people over 60, as well as 571 educators, have also been vaccinated as part of phase 2 in the Pixley Ka Seme District. He strongly urged those who are eligible to vaccinate to present themselves for vaccination.
Lekwene advised members of the Northern Cape community to continue adhering to Covid-19 regulations, such as wearing a mask, sanitising hands, and maintaining social distancing at all times to lower the rate of Covid-19 transmissions.
