Gyms, cinemas and libraries closed under level 4─── 13:56 Mon, 28 Jun 2021
Adjusted level four regulations announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa will see gyms, fitness centres and cinemas closing their doors for the next two weeks.
The new regulations, which were announced on Sunday night, have been gazetted by Cooperative Governance Minister, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.
Public libraries will also be closed for the next two weeks.
The announcement by Ramaphosa came amid rising Covid-19 cases across the country as a result of a variant first identified in India known as Delta.
On Sunday, 15 036 new infections were recorded with Gauteng accounting for 9 858 of those infections.
The rapid rate of infections during the country’s third wave has given rise to fears that the situation in Gauteng could soon resemble India’s second wave.
