The non-payment was confirmed to OFM News by acting Municipal Manager, Ronny Jonas.

Meanwhile, both Lydia Malwane and Olaotswe Makalela have declared themselves as mayors of the municipality, causing confusion.

Makalela is said to have suspended Isaac Moruti as Municipal Manager and appointed Jonas. However, OFM News was reliably informed that Moruti suspended the municipal bank account.

North West secretary for the South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU), Vincent Diphoko, said they want workers to be paid to ensure services are rendered. He adds it is worrying that workers are affected by such internal battles.

Attempts by OFM News to speak to Moruti have failed.
